Dan Barber, founder of Element Digital Dental Solutions, based in Knaresborough North Yorkshire, shares his career story so far, his ambitions, and why he uses Whitepeaks Copra Supreme Symphony from DB Lab supplies.
Element’s website says “With the latest in 3D printing and CAD/CAM technology, we continue to help expand and develop your business with fast turnaround and no compromise”. Dan Barber plans to become one of the UK’s leading brands in milling. And, why not? Since opening for business 12 months ago, Element is a hive of activity that shows no sign of slowing down.

Dan, tell us about your career
I started in 2008, 12 years ago. I worked for a large lab that was at the top of its game. I moved up the ladder there, while studying, learning every aspect of the job from my colleagues as I progressed. There were 35 technicians, all with something different to give. It was a fantastic experience. During my time there, I had been lucky to see digital laboratory technology progress over the years; right from the beginning when we had touch scanners, onto optical scanners and so on.
When did you set up on your own?
In 2015 I set up a completely conventional laboratory with a business partner. It was aimed at both labs and clinicians, however I knew it was only a matter of time before I went fully digital. I also wanted to focus on the lab area of business. In 2019 I set up Element digital on my own to focus solely on lab-to lab services. Now, even though it is early days, we are doing well. We make sure we cater for everyone, with a great service to match.
Supreme Symphony is so popular because it is multilayered and has a combination of strength and aesthetics...(it) can be used for the full range of monolithic restorations.
Why do you use Whitepeaks Copra Supreme Symphony?
The simple answer is that people kept asking for it. It’s a high quality product that 100% does what it is supposed to. It’s reliable, has high aesthetics, high strength and accurate shades.
Supreme Symphony is so popular because it is multilayered and has a combination of strength and aesthetics. Made from Tosoh zirconia powder, Supreme Symphony zirconia can be used for the full range of monolithic restorations. I regularly order Whitepeaks and other products from DB Lab Supplies and I am really pleased with the service from Simon, Debbie and Kaia. Their pricing is reasonable too.
What does the future hold for Element?
We’ve now invested in more machines, with a new one having been installed recently. It’s given us more capacity, more milling power and we can comfortably cater for our growing customer base. I’d like Element Dental to keep growing while never compromising on our quality or turnaround times. Dan’s plan is going well so far, and we wish him all the best for the future.
